Cost:

Social Thinking Groups: $55 per meeting (14 week session for 1 hour in length)


Young Adult Groups: $55 per meeting. Winter session will also be 12 weeks in length

  • Group instruction with individual coaching
  • Individual IF NEEDED

Age of participants

  • Play Focused Groups: Preschool – Kindergarten
  • Social Thinking Groups: Elementary - Adolescents/Young Adults
  • Social Communication Groups - for individuals who need a mixture of social pragmatic / behavioral interventions

Type of students best suited for “social cognitive” groups at the SLC present with some of the following strengths/areas of need:

  • Good use of language syntax and communicates for a variety of reasons.
  • May have impaired speed and efficiency of how they process other’s perspectives
  • May be very literal thinkers, and will show  difficulty with reading literature for social meaning
  • Have poor organizational skills
  • May look socially awkward to peers or look just like their peers yet lack social understandings and nuances; “smart but clueless”
  • Constrained by the speed of social interactions
  • May retreat back to their own comfort level of conversation without considering their communicative partner
  • Not understand hidden meaning of social rules
  • Struggle with understanding how emotions influence their own and another's behaviors
  • Have a desire to be part of the group
  • No frequent aggressive behaviors at school or in the community
